Today was a love letter to advertising, and its unexpected envoys were Jimmy Fallon and Bozama Saint John. All week we’ve been gnashing our teeth about AI and its devaluation of human capital and creativity. Then in leaps Jimmy, paired with the incomparable ad icon, former CMO of Netflix.
Fallon is a restless creative spirit, and serial entrepreneur who burst onto the stage proclaiming that he’d found his tribe here. And he has. This fall he and Bozam are launching a reality show series: think Chopped meets The Apprentice. Real agency folks, in real time, try to create a real marketing campaign for big global brands like Marshalls, Southwestern Airlines and Dunkin’ Donuts. The joy of the crowd was palpable. In closing, Saint John said it best, “I want to bring back respect to the marketing and advertising.” Amen sister.

Interesting fact. At a CMO panel it was revealed that there is significant gender bias with tech. Studies show that women in the workplace are adopting AI 70 to 85% less than men. Women feel guilty about taking shortcuts, and to them AI is exactly that.
